District Officials Discuss Growth Impacts, January 28, 2021
Fire District Commissioners and Management began discussions during 2020 to access district growth impacts and ability to maintain outstanding service levels. A twenty-year Capital Facilities Plan was completed to identify equipment and facilities needs during this period. Key elements identified include decisions on fire engine replacements and a potential station remodel of the Browns Point facility. An updated facility may be needed to accommodate the size of modern fire equipment apparatus, achieve required safety standards and protocols related to air quality/emissions, etc. and to support anticipated accommodations for increased staffing. This planning will include reaching out to various Pierce County departments and developing projected requirements for architectural/engineering consideration.
