Pierce County Fire District 13 serves the Communities of Browns Point and Dash Point, in unincorporated Pierce County. We are located between the Cities of Tacoma and Federal Way. The Department has 2 stations and is staffed 24 hours a day. These stations provide emergency medical and fire prevention services. We are committed to protecting lives and property and enhancing the quality of life for our citizens through basic and advanced life support, fire suppression, prevention and education. EMT-Basic Course Announcement

Pierce County Fire District 13 will be sponsoring an EMT Basic class starting January 12, 2010.  Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1800 to 2200 hours and every Saturday from 0800 to 1700 hours.  Class Fee is $650.00, which includes textbooks and virtual classroom.  Class Size is limited to 28 seats on a first come, first served basis.  Individuals that are active members of fire departments will have priority until December 15th when the class will be open to anyone meeting the prerequisites.  Prerequisites: Valid Washington State Drivers License, Current CPR card (American Heart Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer), 18 years old or older.  Students must furnish proof of a current TB test and HBV vaccination.  Fire Departments or sponsoring Organizations must provide proof of background checks.  Each student must bring copies of the required documentation to the first day of class.  Students will also be required to furnish their own stethoscope, BP Cuff, and penlight and bring them to the first day of class.  No refunds will be given after the first week of class.  All refunds will have the text book cost deducted from the refund amount.  Successful completion of this course will meet the requirements to take the Washington State/National Registry EMT examination.  Test fees are not included in the course fee.
