About Us

Who are we?
Pierce County Fire District 13 consists of approximately 35 very dedicated individuals with career and educational goals. They are here to serve and protect this community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All members attend weekly training, some administrative meetings, occasional weekend training sessions, as well as pass written and practical proficiency tests. Most of our members have taken a 120 hour Emergency Medical Technician course and respond to medical emergencies as well as fire related emergencies.

What do we do?
In 2007 Pierce County Fire District 13 responded to 136 calls for service. Out of these 136 calls, 65% or 88 calls were EMS, 20% were Fire related, and the remaining 15% were service, rescue, and Hazardous Materials calls. In addition to responding to emergencies we train extensively, as well as conduct pre fire planning, and public education including CPR classes.

How do we do it?
Pierce County Fire District 13 consists of 2 stations. Station 77 is located in Browns Point and Station 76 is located in Dash Point. Station 77 has one Fire Engine, two Personal Watercraft, and a Command Vehicle utilized as a rescue vehicle. Station 2 has one Fire Engine, one Aid Car, and our decontamination facilities.

What is our response area?
The response area for Pierce County Fire District 13 is approximately 5 square miles of land. The southern boundary is by the Cliff House and the northern boundary is Dash Point State Park. We also cover halfway across Commencement Bay between our northern and southern boundaries.

Who do we depend on for assistance?
We have mutual aid agreements with the Tacoma Fire Department and South King Fire & Rescue. We also utilize Rural/Metro Ambulance, American Medical Response, and Airlift Northwest for medical transport.
