The PCFD 13 Combined Volunteer Fire Academy is an intensive 15 weeks program that runs two nights a week, and every weekend. The Academy offers students the opportunity to learn from a network of fire instructors from area fire departments and also utilizes various training facilities in the Pierce County region and the Washington State Fire Training Academy in North Bend.
The Academy program is held twice a year.
Textbooks are available through the Academy and may be obtained once course registration is verified. An Academy duty shirt will be provided, but students are expected to provide their own PPE.
Students graduate with the minimum requirements for volunteer firefighters, including IFSAC certifications in Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials Operations.
